practicing gratitude

Day to day I find that my head can get full of so many things - lists of things to do, things to get, things to find, things to remember, things, things.... things!! Over the past few months at times when I've felt overwhelmed by my thoughts, I started taking a few minutes out to consider what I am grateful for.

This idea of practicing gratitude is not new and there are so many mental health professionals who recommend it as a way of reconnecting with the present moment and changing the flow of your thoughts to a more positive mindset. Button Pics

I created this little Button Pic as a prompt for me to stop what I'm doing (or thinking) and to consider any one of the suggestions, just for a moment.

I've found that when I think of my favourite song or smell it brings a memory or thought that is happy and positive and that moment of joy can lighten my day.
